This 37-acre adult summer camp in West Saugerties opened in 2022 with a fleet of renovated Airstreams, as well as cabins and safari-style tents. T+L commerce editor Lydia Price stayed in one of the Airstreams this past autumn and raved about it, saying, "Panoramic windows in the bedroom, which take up one end of the 31-foot Airstream, were perfect for gazing at the trees outside awash in brilliant reds, yellows, and oranges." White walls with hardwood floors, cupboards, and door frames create a warm and inviting atmosphere. There was a handbook on the area's past as an artist colony on my nightstand.
With its "hand-woven Turkish rugs, custom wall-hangings, Masaya Co. furniture, and private fire pits," Eastwind Windham, located approximately 150 miles north of New York City, drew the attention of T+L in 2018. Lushna Suites, Eastwind's new standalone cabins phrazle with a Scandi aesthetic and private decks, hammocks, and outdoor showers, debuted in September.
(If the spring weather hasn't yet risen to "outdoor shower" temperatures, these A-frame wonders also come with cosy Pendleton robes.) Even T+L's features director, Peter Terzian, had a great time at the Windham, New York hotel: "Eastwind's most beguiling element is hidden in plain sight." Glamping cabins in the manner of modern Scandinavian design may be found in a field adorned with fairy lights if you drive around the back of the main house, a refurbished fishing lodge.
Our rectangular cabin was as ingeniously laid up as a Rubik's cube, with a living area that led out to a terrace and a simple toilet and office hidden away under the sleeping loft. Since then, the Eastwind Oliverea Valley, a 27-suite hotel set in the rugged highlands of the Big Indian Wilderness, has opened as a sister property to the original.
